Senior Software Engineer (ML)

About the Role

We’re supporting an innovative technology company looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale data-driven products used by enterprise customers.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining software engineering, data engineering, and applied machine learning. You’ll design and build production systems that process large volumes of data, support machine learning applications, and help turn complex data into reliable products.

Working closely with engineers, product teams, and data specialists, you’ll play an important role in building scalable, well-tested software while contributing to the overall technical direction of the platform.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Python applications and data pipelines.
• Develop production machine learning and data processing workflows.
• Process and transform large structured and unstructured datasets efficiently.
• Deploy and operate cloud-based applications and data services.
• Work closely with software engineers and domain experts to bring new data products into production.
• Build reliable, maintainable software with strong testing and engineering standards.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and continuously improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong professional experience developing software with Python.
• Experience building and maintaining production backend systems.
• Experience designing and operating data pipelines.
• Experience working with large datasets and modern data processing tools.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS or another major cloud platform.
• Practical experience applying machine learning within production software.
• Good understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, version control, and CI/CD.
• Comfortable working in collaborative, cross-functional engineering teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience building cloud-native applications.
• Exposure to modern machine learning or AI-powered products.
• Experience with distributed systems or data-intensive applications.
• Containerisation and Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Knowledge of modern data platforms and analytics technologies.
